The Roscoe Rockland Fire Department. will be hosting the annual Sullivan County Volunteer Firefighter's Association Parade in September in Roscoe, typically the largest parade in the County!
If you're not attending but just passing through on those days, here's some info to avoid getting stuck in traffic:
- Friday, September 8, from 6:30 p.m. to approximately 7:30 p.m.:
* Stewart Avenue (Roscoe's main street) will be closed between Old Route 17 and Highland Avenue for a Mardi Gras-style parade and events. Traffic will be diverted around Union Street.
- Saturday, September 9:
* Gulf Road (County Route 123) will be closed between Dutch Hill Road and Huber Road from 1 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade, expected to be around 3:30 p.m.
* Old Route 17 closed at Union Street, starting at 1:45 p.m. Traffic coming from Delaware County (Rockland Road/County Route 91/State Route 206) will be encouraged to divert at the blinking light and head via Old Route 17 to current Route 17's Exit 92 in Cooks Falls.
* Stewart Avenue will be closed at Old Route 17 and Highland Avenue from 1:45 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade around 3:30 p.m.
* Route 17's eastbound (NYC direction) on- and off-ramps at Exit 94 (Roscoe) will be closed from 2 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade around 3:30 p.m.
* Route 17's westbound (Binghamton direction) off-ramp at Exit 94 (Roscoe) will be open, but traffic will not be able to make a left into Roscoe from 2 p.m. until the conclusion of the parade around 3:30 p.m. The westbound on-ramp will remain open, and traffic will be encouraged to get on 17, continue to Exit 92 and come back along Old Route 17 from Cooks Falls, or park nearby and enjoy the parade!
